  Jixi University, with a long history of 54 years, approved by the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province and put on file in Ministry of Education of China, belongs to the People’s Government of HLJ. It enrolls students from different parts of China, and its graduates get different jobs in and abroad.The school is located in the centre of Jixi City, divided by Heping Street into West and East Campus ( the newly-bought East campus was a school area of a university.).As a garden-like university at the provincial level, it has outstanding characters for running a school in China, and it is one of the schools with the best teaching factors among the universities of the same kind in Heilongjiang Province.

  Four buildings for teaching, four for practical teaching, a broad band network on campus connected with the internet, cable TV network, a modern library, a hall for seminar, Sports Ground, Gym, Centre for Health, Art Gallery, Floodlit Court (Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball) Activity Centre for Students, vocal music classrooms, painting rooms. The number of the seats for students exceeds the standard made by the state. All of above can meet the needs of teaching.

  Advanced Teaching Facilities

  The school has a modern educational technical center, more computer net centers, computer software and hardware labs, electronic courseware rooms, computer and multimedia networking classrooms, multi-purpose networking classrooms and multimedia language labs. The proportion of the computers in this school to the students has exceeded that of Universities. A lot of subjects on different majors have been teaching through computers, in multimedia way or the net in the campus. All the key majors of the school have “the Skill-Training Lab” to train the professional skills of the students, where the students can be trained in a simulate situation.

  Teachers  

  The teachers with higher titles including professors and assistant professors are in the proportion of 55.5 %, which exceeds the state standard made for universities, and more and more teachers have or will have Doctor’s and Master’s Degrees. Jixi University has invited over 40 academicians from Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and some famous  experts to work here as part-time professors. And also we have many foreign teachers taking full-time jobs.

  Various major categories

  Normal College,Electrical and Information Engineering Department,Eastern Languages Department,Western Languages Department, Chinese and Law Department,Economics and Management Department,Security and Environmental Engineering Department,Physical Education Department,   Continuious  Education Department---10 faculties. The main majors includes Coal Mining Technology,Electrical Automation Technology, Accounting and Auditing,Traffic Management,Construction Technology,Interior Design Technology,Music Education,English Education, Practical Russian, Practical Korean,Business Japanese,German and so on,more than 50 majors, covering 15 major categories,such as transportation, finance, tourism, education, law, etc.There is one state-level major, three province-level majors.It is one of the best universities in our province,concerning major sets and focus majors.The students staff amounts to more than 10,000 at present, they are from 30 provinces and autonomous regions all over the country.

  Many firsts in HLJ. as well as in China

  We have firstly researched Natural Graphite Oxidative Electrode successfully and put it into use in society, and established Studies of Words Colors, the first place of Great Northern Wilderness wood-block. in China.We are the first to establish our own “nationwide information network for graduate employment” and the employment service center for graduates in the eastern area of HLJ. This very center supplies services for both college graduates and also other job seekers. This is a unique invention in institutions of higher learning of China.We are the first to use Training Scheme for Students instead of traditional Teaching Plan to cultivate the students in many aspects, to set up the training mode centered on students’ competence developing, to carry out double-major and more certificates’ system, credit system and flexible educational system. We are the first to cancel the make-up examination, and carry out the picking up relearning and reexamination systems, to fulfill rolled developing and eliminating system for probationary students and auditors. We are also the only university whose students have published academic papers in the magazines at the state level in China.And the students in Jixi University have taken part in the competition of formation of mathematical models, the National Russian Speech Contest and some of them have been awarded prizes. We have realized exchanges of students and teachers with foreign institutions of higher learning for academic purpose.

  Jixi City, in which Jixi University is located, lies in the southeast part of HLJ, belonging to the essential economic zone in Northeastern Asia. It is taken as one of the traditional industrial bases as well as the newly-sprung border trade and it is an environmental, ecological tourist city. The beautiful Wusuli River, XingKai Lake between China and Russia are in Jixi area, where we have   two national land customs ports, convenient transportation, profound details of Chinese culture and brilliant civilization.
